AIM Can Do It!

In October, I will celebrate 34 years on staff at Arlington Independent Media. Over those years I have consistently been impressed and inspired by the creativity, innovation, and "can do" attitude of the AIM community. Time and time again, under all manner of circumstances, I've witnessed AIM producers and volunteers rise to the challenges of production and dependably create excellent video and audio content for our community. The past six months have been no different.

Ever since COVID-19 forced us to close our facility to the public, AIM producers have rolled up their collective sleeves and said, to borrow Rosie's phrase, "We Can Do It!"  WE CAN learn and embrace new technologies that allow us to produce from home; WE CAN help bring our community together, even if we can't share physical spaces. WE CAN continue to create top quality media content, even without having access to the familiar surrounds of the AIM facility.  Our members have made clear they will not let COVID-19 stop them from bettering our community through media.

Over the last few months, several new radio and television series have been in development and have either already hit the air or are slated to premiere soon, and scores of our established program producers have managed to pivot their production workflow and continue providing AIM-TV and WERA with timely content. Thank you for everything you do and please keep up the great work!

To you producers whose workflows relied on utilizing the AIM facility, please know we are exploring every option to get members back in the facility as soon as it is safely possible. In the meantime, don't forget that AIM's portable production equipment is available for checkout to members that have previously completed the appropriate training workshops. If you need help developing a remote production plan, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at staff@arlingtonmedia.org - we're glad to help.
