Voice Box - The New Face of Journalism
You are invited to be part of a Voice Box studio audience at Arlington Independent Media
"The New Face of Journalism"
Until recently, for more than 200 years our society had used print media as a primary means of gathering and disseminating information about our world. Today, while news consumption is at an all time high, newspaper circulation has been declining at 10 percent or more per year. Print news companies have cut circulation and hiked consumer costs, and an increasing number of journalists are out of work. As the dominant medium of journalism changes from print to online, there is an array of implications to be considered. What do we stand to lose or gain from this transition, in terms of quality, quantity, and access to news coverage?
Join us Nov. 19 as we discuss the changing landscape of print journalism and its effects on the citizenry. (RSVP: voicebox@arlingtonmedia.org)
Guests will include:
Elizabeth Schulman, Director of Development at the Institute For Policy Studies
Jan Schaffer, Executive Director for J-Lab: The Institute for Interactive Journalism
Albert May, Associate Professor at The George Washington University School of Media and Public Affairs
Louie Palu, Independent Freelance Photographer
Moderated by: Christian Dorsey, Director of Outreach & Policy at the Economic Policy Institute in Washington DC.
